HELP ME FLASH!

Posted by LazyMuffin - September 7th, 2008

HEY!

I'm working on Nameless as some of you may know, and I'm already having size issues.
I'm animating scene by scene then putting it all together.

The animation is how two minutes long and 3.62MB.
EXPLAIN THAT TO ME! What about my animation makes everything weigh so much?
How come two minutes of my animation weighs 3.6MB and a 20 minute animation by Waterman weighs 10MB? ):

I tried deleting all the audio files just to see how big a 1.6MB scene will be, it only changed to 1.4MB.
I tried putting it all in a movie clip but that didn't help.

I'll probably end up dealing with it and putting up in 2 parts instead of one, which makes me sad.

But if any of you have suggestions, go ahead.
Can't hurt.

BY THE WAY, THERE IS A NEW MEMBER IN THE RWD.
... MMMYES.

hmm.. no idea but maybe u usin too many keyframes

same problem happens to me all the time.

My solution is cutting my wrists :c

well i have a file that is gonna be a music vid. and it is only like 300 frames now and it is 30+mb, but the .swf is only like 3mb

I'm talking SWFs, my FLAs are like 70mb...

Man, my new movie's already 9.8 MB without 75% of the audio, I'm freaking out too! :O

*sob! I don't know shit about flash, but I loOurves the Nameless! Hope this Hhelps! hhe;lp hhelp hhelp hhelp.

What sound settings are you exporting the .swf on?

48kbps, that's all I change.
I use mp3s.

Waterman is also Tweenimation, if I remember correctly.

Could be your fbf-ism.
Since Waterman uses symbols for the most part, flash only has to load the actual image once, and then only has to load its width/length/angle/etc.
With you, it loads a new shape every time someone talks/moves their arms etc.
Which btw is very stylish and is very visually appealing.
And congrats as being a Rightful Wrong Doer (Or whatever RWD spells out to be)
They're flashes are pretty neat, as are yours, so yeah that's gonna be cool :D

RADICAL!

Yeah, that's probably it when I think of it.
baw.

Ok bye

I'd help ya but, I'm stoned everytime I animate and usually don't have a dang clue what I'm doing. :P
However... you could go to File, then Publish Settings, click the Flash tab, go down near the bottum and change the Sound Settings for the Audio - usually just changing the Quality to medium and Bit Rate to about 24kbps lowers it by a good chunk. Basically your sacrificing audio quality for file size... I think. I don't really notice the difference if I only lower it a bit though. :3

bitmaps take up alot of space so if u hav any that u used for drawing get rid of those

I usually have the same problems when I'm making a flash. I freak out over the file size the whole way through but by the end it always works out to be under 10 mb. Don't worry about it.

is it ANIGEN
ANIGEN
ANIGEN
ANIGEN
ANIGEN IS FOURTEEN YEAR OLD KID

He's in.
BUT IM TALKIN SOMEONE ELSE.

I'm also struggling at the moment with something that is too fat for it's own good.

Try lowering the audio output to about 32k or even 24 kbps.
Also make sure everything is converted to a symbol or graphic so that no "raw" artwork exists.

Other than that just keep "Save and Compress"-ing and hope for the best :(

Its your voice actors. Their popularity is weighing down the size.

I should have known...

Ummm, I hope you don't have to split the parts up in two pieces again....

compress it?

Use graphics for things that you use more than once, and optimize :

Boring? Yes. Takes forever? Yes. Reduces lag/filesize? Yes.

ummm, are you talking about the swf. or the fla.?

Either you're super-awesome and Flash simply can't take your awesomeness, or high-quality sound is making the file size a lot larger.
